Joey Feste on Getting Involved with Men at the Cross

Through my participation with Men at the Cross, the Christian ministry founded specifically to support men in their spiritual journeys, I have had the opportunity to participate in several inspiring activities. If you are interested in joining a fellowship of men who devote themselves to their families, to service, and to Christ, here are some opportunities to get involved with Men at the Cross:

1. Attend a conference. Throughout the year, Men at the Cross founder Joe White hosts regional conferences at local churches across the United States. Along with special guest speakers, such as former NFL quarterback Neal Jeffrey and Bishop Larry Jackson, the Men’s Conferences also feature Crossbow For Teens breakout sessions to help Christian youths address the challenges they face. Additionally, the Passionate Love conference series provides a venue for married and engaged couples to build stronger relationships in Christ and with each other.

2. Explore online resources. The Men at the Cross website (www.menatthecross.org) provides a wide range of online resources, including a daily video devotional, as well as video discipleship accounts from men around the country. Moreover, Men at the Cross faculty members, including Joe White, Wellington Boone, and Gary Smalley answer reader questions about relationships and faith through the Life Answers section.

3. Leadership and discipleship training. The 24-week One2Won and Barnabas Training programs help men study God’s Word and become more effective leaders through engaging and informative coursework. Men at the Cross also supports pastors in working toward their missions by providing free admission to the ministry’s events.

3. Charitable giving. Men at the Cross relies on the generous gifts of donors to maintain and expand the ministry. By spreading the word to friends, supporters can also further the work of this revolutionary discipleship movement.

The University of Texas at Austin

Before launching his career as a portfolio manager and financial executive, Joey Feste received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Commonly referred to as the University of Texas or UT Austin, the University of Texas at Austin joins campuses in Arlington, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, San Antonio, Tyler, and the Permian Basin to form the University of Texas System. UT Austin, with more than 50,000 students currently enrolled, is the fifth largest school in the United States in terms of enrollment. Widely recognized as one of the top public institutions in the country, the University of Texas at Austin earned the title of Public Ivy according to the original study in 1985.

After the Morrill Act of 1862 allowed for the creation of land grant universities, the state of Texas founded Texas A&M University in 1876. In 1883, after the Texas Constitution of 1876 mandated the establishment of a second university in Texas, the University of Texas opened its doors on College Hill in Austin. In spite of receiving a donation of 500 acres along the Colorado River in the early 20th century, the University of Texas decided to remain at its location in Austin. The institution later attempted to buy land adjacent to the campus, but the discovery of oil in the area hindered those plans and caused the university to bolster its endowment instead. In recent years, the University of Texas at Austin has expanded to include the Blanton Museum of Art, the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, and the first presidential library on a university campus.

One of the top public institutions in the country, the University of Texas at Austin consistently ranks in the top 50 of American universities according to U.S. News & World Report. The University of Texas at Austin also includes a number of high-ranking graduate level programs, including the College of Pharmacy (4th), the Cockrell School of Engineering (9th), the College of Education (10th), and the School of Law (15th). According to USA Today, the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin is one of the top producers of new Fortune 1000 CEOs.
